While the roots of the sport called wrestling extend from nearly all walks of life and many centuries ago; today in a violent vulgar flurry of a gladiator style entertainment extravaganza professional wrestling is found.

Wrestling began as a sport at its best. Back around 708 BC the Greeks started having wrestling matches at the start of the antediluvian Olympics. This lasted over many years. These wrestlers were in the brawls for the sport of it.

The Officials of Wrestling

In wrestling (high school, college, scholastic and the like) the official list includes the mat chairman, a judge, and the referee. Unlike professional wrestling, the amateur wrestlers have consistent rules to follow, and are required to be sporting in their matches. These roles help keep the rules followed as well as several layers of review on the many aspects of the wrestling match. In the end, it keeps the sport one of good character among the wrestlers competing.

World of Wrestling History and Information

Wrestling goes back to BC times. From Cain and Able, Greek times, Olympic, Scholastic, Collegiate, and professional wrestling bringing quite a bit of history.

 

In the orient, several forms of wrestling originated including sumo and numerous variants of the martial arts as well. Sumo is an ancient art within Japan. Royal families would regular these events for centuries. Its roots are actually religious and somewhat applied to this day. Wrestlers seeking strength from God and sprinkling salt around the arena for purification are still practiced today.

Whatever Happened To Wrestling The Way It Was In The 70s?

Once upon a time in an arena not far away, many would come from all around to see wrestlers in defined (with some rules) battles of strength. It was called professional wrestling. While it was a little violent it was actually still ok as family entertainment.
